I would not have started Nuova Vita if I didn’t really love the convertible dress or the concept of being able to transform one piece of clothing into different looks over and over again. I didn’t grow up with a lot of money and as a little girl I remember going through my grandmother and grandfathers closet and coming up with outfits that I could wear with their clothes. I would create my own transformation whether it was wearing my grandfathers plaid shirt as a dress with leggings or taking a piece of fabric from my grandmothers sewing studio and wearing it as a headband. To me style is about creating and the convertible dress allows you to do that. You can become your own fashion designer and create any style you desire!
I created 3 different looks and accessorized my convertible dress with a bracelet. I have attached a video of how to create the first look a Simple Halter style and using a bracelet as an accessory in the middle of your sash. It is so much easier then you may think !! I will be posting videos for the other two looks soon.
Like many of us, JD and Alexis met through a mutual friend but both were focusing on their careers at the time. Alexis is a publicist and had just completed a book dedicated to singles and JD was focusing on his ministry. Doesn’t it always seem that you meet the person you are going to end up with when you are focusing on everything and anything but LOVE. Neither one of them were looking to start a relationship but after much persuasiveness from their mutual friend they finally met and hit it off. They were inseparable there after, but like many couples they had their highs and their lows. All couples deal with their differences differently, but Alexis and JD’s faith brought them through and after 2 years of dating they were engaged and married.
On July 13 2013 Alexis and JD tied the knot at the beautiful Mary Ann & Bruce Belin Chapel on the campus of Houston Baptist University. They held a fun filled reception at Treebeard’s in Downtown Houston Texas. Alexis chose to outfit her wedding party in our champagne convertible gown dresses which complimented the weddings color scheme of eggplant, creams, and burnt orange with silver accents.
I came across this quote from Alexis and it inspired me. I was lucky enough to find my true Love young but for all who are still looking never give up. It makes the world go round and changes everything.
“Without faith, you will only trust what your circumstance shows you. Without hope, you will believe the circumstance can never change. And without love, you will never attempt to bring change to your circumstance.”-Alexis Herron
I wish Alexis and JD a lifetime of happiness and hope all your dreams come true as husband and wife. Thank you for letting me share a small part in your wedding and outfitting your bridesmaids!
Airbrush Makeup, are you familiar with it?
I was first introduced to airbrush makeup when I was on the hunt for a makeup artist to do my makeup on my wedding day. During this time I was having issues with my skin and I really wanted my makeup to look great for the wedding. I also do not wear a lot of makeup and I hate the cakey makeup look so I researched the idea of airbrush makeup. After a few trials of traditional makeup application I found Karen Abitol (www.karenthemakeupartist.com). She used the airbrush technique, and within a few minutes of the application my skin looked flawless! I was shocked, the airbrush makeup not only felt like I didn’t have anything on, but it covered up every imperfection that I had. I was in LOVE with this technique. I was in Skin Nirvana and I needed this machine!
There are many different airbrush machines on the market many of them are for professional makeup artists. Luminous Air is another airbrush makeup brand which I’ve tried but the machine broke and it would also get clogged with makeup all the time. Then I came across the Temptu airbrush makeup system in Sephora, you can also go to directly to the Temptu website (www.temptu.com). I remembered Karen the make up artist from my wedding tell me she used Temptu airbrush make up because it was water based which is better for your skin. Needless to say, I bought the machine $225.00. I am not one of those people who waits to try things out so as soon as I got home I had to try the system. It was so quick and easy to use and there was no clean up unlike the luminous air brand, which you need to clean everytime you use it. With the Temptu brand the makeup is in these small makeup pods (as seen above in picture) they click into the system for use. The system is very easy to use and again I was able to achieve the flawless complexion that I had on my wedding day!
If you are getting married and do not know if you should go with traditional makeup or airbrush makeup, I definatley recommend airbrush. Your skin will look flawless, you feel like you have no makeup on, your makeup stays on for hours with out any type of reapplication of foundation. To me its a no brainer. And if your anything like me and obsessed with achieving a flawless complexion you can DIY and buy the Temptu airbrush system as well.
This is the reason why I love the convertible dress! What other dress is as versatile? Here are 3 different bridesmaids that I had the privilege to wrap for a wedding. Each girl has a different body type and each girl looks equally amazing in the dress.
How to create the look
1. Criss Cross Front – 1. Step into dress or place over head so that sashes are facing the front. 2. Cross the sashes in front (so there is no visible keyholes showing) and take sashes over the shoulders. 3. Bring sashes down the back and create desired back design (criss cross, twist etc). 4. Then bring the sashes don and around the waist and tie and or tuck in front or back of the dress.
2. One Shoulder Twist: 1. Step into dress or place over head so that sashes are facing the front. 2. Bring both sashes over your right or left shoulder (as desired) arrange so the sashes are overlapping one another – there should be no keyhole visible. 3. Right Shoulder: Take your left hand and bring the left strap to the front, take your right hand and bring the right strap to the front (reverse for left shoulder) twist sashes. 4. Then bring sashes down and around the waist and tie and or tuck in front or back of dress.
3. Twist Shoulder: 1. Step into dress or place over head so that sashes are facing the front. 2. Take sashes over the shoulders 3. As you know by reading my blog I am having a baby very soon. I recently got a french manicure and thought it would be fun to get a blue tip and a pink tip on my ring fingers since we decided not to find out what we are having. Boy or Girl.. check our my facebook wall to see the picture. Even though I am pretty plain jane when it comes to my nails, I typically will get a natural nail polish or opt for a french manicure, I love the nail art trend.
Here are some ideas for spicing up your wedding nails, and making them stand out. You can put a little glitter on your nails, jewels, pearls or even a gorgeous lace detail that matches your dress. Just another way to add a unique touch to your wedding style!
Hi! I hope you all had a great weekend. I have been lucky enough to have two baby showers one in New York and one on Sat April 13th in Florida. I am 9 months pregnant and at this point in my pregancy, I absolutely live in maxi dresses. I definatly did not conteplate what I was going to wear to my baby shower or course I decided to wear our white convertible gown. Our dresses are so great to wear during pregnancy, you can pull them up so you can tie them above your belly to show off your beautiful bellies! Not only that but you can wear the dress again.
