4 Tips for taking Maternity Photos

Maternity photos are a wonderful way to document your life during pregnancy. Hopefully, you’re enjoying the glow of pregnancy and want to capture it. However, even if you aren’t feeling your best, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be photographed.

Here are some tips for taking maternity photos.

1. Location

First, decide on a location that you would like to take pictures. I have always preferred natural light and taking my pictures outside. However, some prefer the comfort and privacy of their own home and others prefer a studio for a more formal vibe. All three are great locations and your pictures will look beautiful.

2. Timing

The best time to schedule a maternity photoshoot is when the belly is large, but not too big. This is typically in Months 7 and 8. At this point your belly will be big and beautiful but not too big where it is hard to move around or pose for a picture.

3. Feeling Beautiful

I think the most important thing is that you feel beautiful, when we feel beautiful inside and out it will shine through in your photos. So buy the dress you love, get your hair done, and put on some makeup.

4. Attire

I suggest wearing a solid color, a pattern would be too busy and take the focus away from your bump. Avoid wearing anything too trendy you don’t want to look back at your photos and think why did I wear that? I prefer simple flowy dresses or a tighter floor length dress that showcases your bump. Some of my favorite dresses are from Rachel Pally http://www.rachelpally.com, Sew Trendy http://www.sewtrendy.com, and of course Nuova Vita http://www.nuovavita.com.

Pictures last a lifetime so take this moment to cradle your baby bump and take the moment to connect to your baby bump. The twinkle in your heart and eyes will shine through in your photos.

A Romantic Rustic Chic Wedding

On April 7th 2017 my cousin Chelsea married the love of her life Josh Trotta. They had dated for 7 years and when he asked her to marry him on Christmas Day 2015 we could not have been more happy for them!

I was the MOH and my daughter Rosalina was one of the flower girls. It was such a fun and memorable day full of laughs, tears, and a night of non stop dancing!

Chelsea asked me if I would outfit the girls in Nuova Vita convertible dresses which was exciting for me. It was amazing to be apart of her vision and witness her romantic rustic chic wedding come to life.

Chelsea picked the Convertible Gown in the color twighlight which is what I would call a dusty gray lavender. She paired the dresses with bouquets of Amnesia Roses which matched the dresses perfectly, Hydrangeas, and Dusty Miller which is a grey like accent greenery.

Here are some pictures of the wedding and a bonus is the beautiful wedding clip at the end.

New Year…New Life

Nuova Vita means new life and during this time of year I always think of how I can make changes and become a better person for myself and for my family.

A new year to me is a time to let go of what no longer serves us and to open ourselves up to new beginnings and new dreams. I am excited to start working again and “Breathe New Life” into Nuova Vita after almost 2 years away.

As we head into the new year I reminisce about some of my favorite times in 2017 and I am excited to see what 2018 will bring.

Three Reasons You Should Take Maternity Photos

When I was pregnant with my first child, I made the mistake of not taking professional maternity photos. I was asked by a couple of my friends who were photographers, but I wasn’t feeling myself. I was busting at the seams and couldn’t fathom getting all dolled up for a photo session. I opted not to have them done, and looking back, I regret it.

Now that I am pregnant for the second time, I am feeling a bit differently about the process. Here are three reasons why I changed my mind about maternity photos the second time around.

1.  The photos document the change in your body.

Our bodies go through all these amazing changes and despite the fact that we may not feel beautiful one day or comfortable for a couple of months, the photographs will be a reminder of what we went through to bring a beautiful life onto this earth.

2. The session is a memory you will treasure forever.

Regardless if it’s your first child or your third, these photos sessions create long-lasting memories. You get all dolled up, put on a pretty dress and smile for the camera. You look fabulous doing it and the photographs will capture that pregnancy glow.

If you already have children, the pictures are a sweet way to show the love between a child and their soon-to-be sibling.

3. The photos are a great keepsake.

I didn’t realize it then, but you will always have these photos to use as you wish. You can make a photo album, share them online or even put one on a large canvas and hang on your living room wall.

There is only a small window of time to take these beautiful photographs, a time that you will never be able to get back.

How to Find the Perfect Bridesmaid Dress: Part Two

As I previously discussed, finding the right bridesmaid gown can be daunting. Everyone has a different style, theme and location for their wedding, so how does a bride choose the perfect look?

Patterns – I am seeing more patterns being introduced into bridesmaid dresses.  I can picture these dresses in a garden wedding, country wedding, or a beach wedding.

Mix ‘n’ Match – Whether you want to mix and match with the same gown and styled differently for each bridesmaid, or styled the same but in different colors, Nuova Vita’s convertible style gowns are ideal for bridesmaids who want to wear a bridesmaid gown that they can wear again. View our convertible gowns here.

Sparkle – Those who want a bit of sparkle for their wedding should choose a standout gown. The ladies will look glamorous with understated accessories and flowers. The gowns are the showcase.

Lace – Lace will always be classy and glamorous. Seen as romantic, lace would be the perfect option for a traditional or beach wedding.

Two piece – For a chic, fashion forward ,non-traditional bridesmaid dress, a two piece is another eye-catching option.
