4 Tips for taking Maternity Photos

Maternity photos are a wonderful way to document your life during pregnancy. Hopefully, you’re enjoying the glow of pregnancy and want to capture it. However, even if you aren’t feeling your best, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be photographed.

Here are some tips for taking maternity photos.

1. Location

First, decide on a location that you would like to take pictures. I have always preferred natural light and taking my pictures outside. However, some prefer the comfort and privacy of their own home and others prefer a studio for a more formal vibe. All three are great locations and your pictures will look beautiful.

2. Timing

The best time to schedule a maternity photoshoot is when the belly is large, but not too big. This is typically in Months 7 and 8. At this point your belly will be big and beautiful but not too big where it is hard to move around or pose for a picture.

3. Feeling Beautiful

I think the most important thing is that you feel beautiful, when we feel beautiful inside and out it will shine through in your photos. So buy the dress you love, get your hair done, and put on some makeup.

4. Attire

I suggest wearing a solid color, a pattern would be too busy and take the focus away from your bump. Avoid wearing anything too trendy you don’t want to look back at your photos and think why did I wear that? I prefer simple flowy dresses or a tighter floor length dress that showcases your bump. Some of my favorite dresses are from Rachel Pally http://www.rachelpally.com, Sew Trendy http://www.sewtrendy.com, and of course Nuova Vita http://www.nuovavita.com.

Pictures last a lifetime so take this moment to cradle your baby bump and take the moment to connect to your baby bump. The twinkle in your heart and eyes will shine through in your photos.

Oh Baby!

On July 4th, 2015, our lives changed for the second time.  We found out we were expecting our second child!

I had a slight feeling that I could be pregnant and even though it was a bit early to test, I took one anyway. July 4th is my husband’s birthday. In my head, I figured if I was pregnant, then what better time to tell my husband then on his birthday! and if I wasn’t then off to the next month.

We call him our birthday baby. We are so excited to meet him and welcome him into our family.

Nuova Vita Maternity + Baby Shower

Yesterday was my best friend Cristina’s baby shower. When she asked me to make her a Nuova Vita Signature Convertible Gown in a light pink for her baby shower, I was thrilled!

Instead of making her dress in my standard silk jersey material, I used a cotton jersey. I knew she was going to love wearing it and that she would look stunning in the dress.

I am so excited to meet her baby girl! Our girls are going to be best friends.

Baby Shower Maternity Dress

Hi!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  I have been lucky enough to have had two baby showers: one in New York and one in Florida.

I am 9 months pregnant and at this point in my pregnancy, I absolutely live in maxi dresses.  I definitely did not contemplate what I was going to wear to my baby shower or course I decided to wear our white convertible gown.

Our dresses are so great to wear during pregnancy; you can pull them up so you can tie them above your belly to show off your beautiful bellies!  Not only that, but you can wear the dress again.
