KNOT SHOULDER

1. Step into dress or place over head so that sashes are facing the front.

2. Tie a single knot on each sash – knot can be as high or low as you like.

3. Bring sashes down the back and create desired back design – criss-cross, twist etc

4. Then bring the sashes down and around the waist and tie and/or tuck in front or back of the dress.

You can also twist the back of your dress to create a whole different back.

You can style the dress in a halter style as well. The possibilities are endless.

How to Wrap your Convertible Dress into a One Shoulder Goddess Style

Today I am going to show you how to create the one shoulder.  The one shoulder creates an asymmetrical look with your dress, and is flattering on all body types.  If you are looking for a modest yet sophisticated style, the one shoulder can be a great option for you.

5 Stages of Valentines Day…

LOVE…it comes in different shapes and sizes, and means so many things to so many people.

As I was sitting there tonight watching my 4 year old make Valentines Day cards for her class it made me realize how the meaning of Valentines Day has changed to me as I have become older.

There are so many different stages of Valentines Day depending on where you are in life, but I have to say my Valentines Day plans for this year is exactly what I would want.

1.Infancy:  When we are young mom and dad may have given you a card and some candy and tell you how much they love you.  In school your teacher may have had Valentines Day party for the class and the kids hand out cards to their classmates.

2.  Teenagers: When we are teenagers our ideas of Valentines Day start to change as we may have made a card for crush of ours, saying Do you Like me check yes or no.

I remember being in the 7th grade and it was the time when Valentines Day had changed for me.  We were out of elementary school and in middle school now. All the girls were all so excited about Valentines Day and to be honest I could have cared less. I cared more about my best friend and playing soccer. All day in the halls girls are carrying flowers, cards, and candy.  My best friend was one of them, and I didn’t receive one card. I remember feeling so upset, and thinking What kind of Holiday is this?

3. College: Unless your in a relationship you were most likely going out with your girlfriends on the Anti Valentines day gig dancing the night away.

4. Adult: If your in a relationship you are most likely planning every detail and have been figuring out what to get your boyfriend for the last month.

5. Married with kids: You may be asking yourself What day is Valentine’s Day? Going out with your husband for dinner and hiring a babysitter, or staying in.

For us this year we will be making a special dinner as a family that will most likely end up in a dance party and there is no other place I would rather be.

Happy Valentines Day!

How to Find the Perfect Bridesmaid Dress: Part One

IMG_7950

Hunting for bridesmaid dresses can be one of the most difficult parts of the wedding planning process. Before you decide what style of bridesmaid dresses you want, here are three important points to consider:

  1. The location of your wedding,
  2. The theme of your wedding,
  3. And finally, but most importantly, your personal style.

The location of your wedding

Location. Location. Location. Once you pick out the perfect backdrop for your perfect day, the rest of the pieces should fall into place. The location helps guide you on the style and color of the bridesmaid gown.

For example, a scenic, lush, mountain view wedding would pair perfectly with bold colored bridesmaid gowns to capture the background.

A beach wedding might have bridesmaids wear something a bit softer, maybe soft, pastel colors, so the crystal blue water will pop in the photos.

Whereas a white winter wedding could suggest something a bit more glamorous, yet completely warm, for the bridesmaids, such as a fur coats or sequin gowns.

The theme of your wedding

The theme of the wedding can help guide you towards choosing the right bridesmaid gown for your girls.

For a beach wedding, the dresses could be flowy and airy. A traditional Church wedding could have the opposite effect: maybe choose something simple yet glamorous to match with the decor of the Church or reception room.

Your personal style

Your personal style needs to be at the front of your mind when selecting bridesmaid gowns.
Here are three questions to ask yourself:

What do you like to wear?
Would you enjoy seeing these colors, patterns, and styles at your wedding?
Would you wear it?

Tomorrow, I will be talking about the how to coordinate your style with your bridesmaids style thus creating a beautiful and cohesive wedding party.
